What is this? Is this needed? (+ A condition for failure)

This Discourse forum is a level of communication that sits between the WhatsApp chat and the Substack where we post bigger updates and announcements.

A forum like this is much more low-key than a Substack - at the same time it allows for conversations about specific topics and also allows us to have a history of the things we’ve explored.

Some topics that we can discuss there:

  • conversations about a specific practice formats
  • updates on how a format or mini-retreat went
  • announcing a practice series that you’re going to explore as a facilitator
  • questions and ideas about the development of We Practice Together as a space
  • personal experiences around a particular practice
  • (would you add anything else to this list?)

I feel like I’d like to share things like this, but I’m not sure if other people need it.

We can check out if something is needed based on two things:

  1. How much something is used.
  2. Weather people are willing to pay for it.

That said - this forum is not free. The hosting costs $20/month which sums up to $240/year.

I’ll leave a donation link here if anybody would like to chip in towards that sum. I’ll make a spreadsheet with all the people who donated with each amount so it’s all totally transparent.

Condition for failure

I’m willing to pay for a month or two for the forum space (until the end of November), but

  • If I don’t see at least a couple posts per month from people other than me
  • If I don’t get to at least a $120 donations

I’ll call this experiment a failure and close this forum space.

Still - the fact that I can write all of this here - it is something that wasn’t possible before!

I think it’s great and I hope other people besides myself need it as well.

I’ve started paying for the subscription and I’ll likely pay for a couple of months - something like March - May 2026.

I’m excited about the possibility of having a community library of practices here.
