**Description of the practice:**
Exploring and experimenting with Dan Brown’s work around Self-Esteem, Positive remapping, IPF etc. We are trying to generate positive affect and mental image with the notes. Moving through 4 phases, usually 10 minutes each

1. Samadhi noting

Pleasant \_\_
Enjoying \_\_
Pleasant breath
Or metta/mudita phrase

2. Situations where you felt especially good about yourself.

I did that/\__\_ great
I am good
Feeling good
Self-worth
I did great there/\__\_
I like how I \__\_
I like my \__\_

3. Ideal parent/Metta figure expressing delight in you. Also could remember real life situations where you were liked/appreciated.

Being \_\_
Feeling \_\_
Loving presence
Being appreciated
Being delighted in
Being liked
Being important
Being cared for

4. Samadhi noting

Pleasant \_\_
Enjoying \_\_
Pleasant breathing
Or metta/mudita phrase

**Notes on facilitation:**
You can have sequential noting for all the phases or switch from sequential to spontaneous in the middle of the practice.

**Observed Effects / Potential Benefits:**
Samadhi noting cultivates positive mind states and regulates the nervous system. The self-esteem and metta figure phases allow for the positivity to penetrate the emotional system.

**Attribution & Origin Story:**
Created by Topi Karhonen around October 2025 and facilitated in We Practice Together. He came up with it when he met the work of dr. Daniel P. Brown around Attachment repair, Ideal Parent Figure protocol and Self-Esteem improvement and mapping.

The third phase in the sequence is not exactly IPF - I would call it [Being Delighted In](https://wepractice.discourse.group/t/being-delighted-in/23). It’s influenced by Deity Yoga and Attachment theory and IPF itself, but it’s not either of those.

> [@Being Delighted In](https://wepractice.discourse.group/t/being-delighted-in/23/1):
>
> The practice is different from Deity Yoga (aka Yidam) in that you’re noting how you feel as the visualization progresses. That allows for the body & the somatic emotional system to open up in relation to the image and the intersubjective experience of the image delighting in the practitioner.
>
> It’s also focused on the qualities of Love but also Delight which is one of the [5 characteristics of secure attachment](https://youtu.be/z2au4jtL0O4?si=yN7P3lB79Wm3o0J9&t=600) (Safety & Protection, Attunement, Soothing & Comfort, Expressed Delight, Support & Encouragement for self-development).
>
> It’s different from Ideal Parent Figure protocol and visualization in that IPF is a structured, guided visualization with Ideal Parent pair - either in a group or 1:1 setting. BDI is more spontaneous and dynamic interaction with an image that doesn’t have to be parental. IPF also doesn’t have “noting” in it.

Here is a recording of a 20 min guided visualization of IPF by George Haas for reference
